Brand new album (and her first for Topic Records) from former Bellowhead string player/singer, Rachael McShane sees her reworking traditional songs with a new band, The Cartographers plus ex-Bellowhead cohorts. When All Is Still is destined to be among 2018s most talked about best new British folk albums. Hailing from the North East of England, singer, cellist, fiddle and viola player Rachael McShane is perhaps best known as an original member of British folk big-band Bellowhead, who sold over a quarter of a million albums. That, however, may be about to change with the release of her own distinctive and captivating, brand new album When All Is Still (Topic Records) on 10th August 2018. This, her first solo album since 2009s No Mans Fool (Navigator Records) finds her innovatively interpreting traditional songs with an exciting new band, The Cartographers, featuring electric and acoustic guitarist Matthew Ord (Assembly Lane) and melodeon player Julian Sutton (Kathryn Tickell, Sting). Not that she's completely left the Bellowhead world behind her, as amongst the featured special guests, there are former Bellowhead bandmates Paul Sartin (oboe), Andy Mellon (trumpet), Justin Thurgur (trombone) and Ed Neuhauser (tuba), in addition to a host of other outstanding musicians. As an original member of Bellowhead, Rachael McShane toured internationally, as well as making several high profile TV appearances. Bellowhead recorded 5 studio albums and won a total of 8 BBC Folk Awards in their 12 years together. She has more recently been singing the role of Susannah Holmes in a critically acclaimed adaptation of The Transports alongside a stellar cast including The Younguns, Faustus, Nancy Kerr & Greg Russell. Rachael McShane & The Cartographers are a brand new signing to Topic Records, the oldest independent label in the world, on the eve of it's 80th anniversary (in 2019). 1. The Molecatcher 2. Lady Isabel 3. Cropper Lads 4. Ploughman Lads 5. Waltzing at Giggleswick / The Ginger Cat Monster 6. Two Sisters 7. Barley and Rye 8. Road to Tarset / Lake of Swans 9. Sheath and Knife 10. Sylvie 11. Green Broom
