The cool but increasingly muscular sound of Zoot Sim's tenor sax dominates Down Home recorded in New York in 1960. Down Home features Zoot in quartet mode alongside Dave McKenna on piano, George Tucker on bass and Dannie Richmond on drums. Seven of the eight tunes in this collection could be regarded as old standards by the time Zoot made this recording in 1960.
